Team for Man City
West Ham United v Manchester City
Sunday 15th May Olympic Stadium

Big game for us and a slim chance to go above ManU on goal difference. However, Man City looking very strong scoring 5 goals in there last 2 games. I expect us to make it much harder for them and you never know perhaps we get something from the game.

Ogbonna obviously out. Worryingly Antonio, Dawson and Benrahma all took knocks against Norwich and are doubtful. If anyone knows more please tell us. I hole they are all available.

I expect Soucek to come back in and from Lanzini, Fornals and Benrahma, I would drop Lanzini. I like Fornals in the middle and would like to see more of that. I really hope Benrahma can start and show us if he can play as he did a Norwich against tougher opposition.

Fabianski
Coufal, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell
Soucek, Rice
Bowen, Fornals, Benrahma
Antonio

Moyes gave some team news in the press conference.
Antonio and Dawson have been training and will be available.
Benrahma has been able to return to physical work, but Moyes is not sure if Benrahma will be able to feature this weekend.

Moyes said: “Saïd [Benrahma] is a little bit of a question mark - he's out doing some light jogging so maybe not as bad as we thought - but I'm not quite sure if he's fit. We'll know a little bit more come tomorrow. It's an ankle injury.”

If Benrahma can't start I obviously put Lanzini in that team I posted and maybe keep Jake happy. I have to admit it's a good plan to put Johnson in for Cresswell. Recent form is that Johnson has played better as LB. But I'll stay with the experienced old chap.

We could score 3 and we would still lose this one i'm afraid.

Johnson surely has to start ahead of cresswell . The thought of foden or sterling against the 2022 version of AC is seriously frightening .

With Laporte and Fabinho out and only Ake as their only half fit CB it's an open invitation to have a go from the start before they tire us with their possession game.

Be nice to see Soucek to get into the box more for some of these crosses.

His goals were what made him stick out last season. This season he looks an average midfielder.

Looking for City weaknesses I agree with your point about them in the air. If we look back to last week they were undone by 2 excellent crosses into the box for the head of Rodrigo or whatever the subs name was. Real Madrid got it wide and swung it in early with pace and accuracy. Late in the game so perhaps Laporte etc. were tiring a little?

But all this depends on us getting some possession and the likes of Coufal, Cresswell, Johnson, Benrahma, Bowen or whoever plays getting good accurate crosses in and Antonio or a Soucek getting on the end of them and hitting the target. Evidence recently suggests that will need a lot of things to go our way.

We will firstly need to defend deep with a lot of players behind the ball as we have in the last 2 seasons against them. Try taking the game to them early and they will score a hatful IMHO.

Let’s hope we find a way to get something. In terms of the team, pretty much the one that started at Norwich with question marks against Cresswell and Coufal for pace as full backs with only Johnson as the option in one position ( I would say left back as Mahrez could tear Cresswell a new one IMO) and whether starting with Soucek or Benny ( Fornals takes left birth and Rice and Lanzini joined by Soucek in midfield).

You’ve got a point about their full backs. Zinchenko never looks fully in control and vulnerable. Bowen should have some joy there.

Re: Team for Man City
Would love a point to secure 7th. It's possible we'll lose both our last games. Wolves have Norwich at home a certain 3pts and Liverpool away but of if by then City have the title wrapped up they may field a very weak team. They'll have nothing to play for.

Benrahma scored twice in the last game. Of course he will start.

Re: Team for Man City
I disagree entirely!

If there's one player we shouldn't drop between Benrahma and Lanzini, it's Lanzini

Lanzini can hold on to the ball, rarely loses it, rarely misdirects a pass and has the ability to pick a pass which is going to be essential when we're playing on the break

Benrahma, for all his amazing skill, gets eased off the ball far too easily still and often picks the wrong option

Yes he had a blinder against Norwich up until he had to go off injured, but there's a big difference between losing possession against Norwich and losing the ball against City!

I watched their game with Wolves last night and although they won the game easily, Wolves did show up a few small weaknesses

I didn't think City were particularly good defending corners and seem to have a general weakness in the air

I wasn't too impressed with their stand in full backs either, who seemed to lose the ball a lot

It has to be said that de Bruyne was magnificent and effectively won the game for them

We need to put someone on him to stop him running the show!

My starting eleven:-

Fabianski

Coufal Dawson Zouma Cresswell

Soucek Rice Fornals

Lanzini

Bowen Antonio

Re: Team for Man City
We are going to concede goals in this game, so we need to try to give them something to think about at the back, with half their defence missing. I’d start Benrahma as he has looked dangerous recently. Also like Fornals in the middle with his ability to thread a through ball. Wolves had a bit of joy getting in behind them last night.

He's saying there is a slim chance of winning basically, I think that's quite simple to understand!

As for Noble, I love the guy, but he will want what is best for the club and will not expect to start. Of course, if the game allows he can come on, even if just a minute at the end. No room for sentiment in this game!

He just means it's a slim chance that we'll win.

As for Noble, he shouldn't start this game. It's too important for sentiment.

I think whatever team we put out will struggle to get anything as they are scoring goals for fun.
